Boiler Insurance
By ProMatcher Staff
Do I need boiler insurance?
Boilers are not always covered by the standard home insurance policy. Boilers can breakdown without warning and shut down your entire home heating system. As a result, you may want to consider purchasing a separate boiler insurance policy. While some cover the entire home heating system, other policies may only cover minor repairs and maintenance.
Does the policy include preventative maintenance?
Repairing or replacing a boiler can cost thousands of dollars. Some insurance plans may include an annual maintenance visit or a boiler service package. Boiler insurance is often offered by utility companies. For example, if you have a gas boiler, you may be able to purchase boiler insurance from the natural gas company.
Note: It can be difficult to insure older boilers due to the increased risk of boiler failure.
